FOR THE LOVE OF THE NAILS

I love painting my nails! Yes, I love going to the salon, but there is just a certain satisfaction a girl has when she paints her own nails and they actually turn out looking great. This love began young, I blame my posh granny! She always had her nails painted and bought me nail polish all the time. When I was little, we would file and paint our nails together. I was a pretty big tomboy growing up, but that didn’t stop me from having the prettiest nails around!

So, today I’m highlighting a nail brand that I love, Deborah Lippmann! Thanks to none other than my posh granny for this love. She got me this set of Deborah Lippmann polishes a couple of Christmas’s ago and I have fell in love with it. Every time I use it I’m amazed at how nicely the polish goes on and how long it lasts. The packaging is also super convenient! I’ve dropped it into my suitcase for trips before, because it has a great variety and I know it has everything I need and because I just love doing my nails on vacation! It’s also great because I can set the polish in the compartments as I do my nails and they won’t tip over. If you are not familiar with the brand I highly recommend you try it! Deborah is a renowned celebrity manicurist whose nail polish and treatment products are of exceptional quality and are affordable. Unfortunately you can’t get this particular set anymore, because it was a one time special, but she has similar sets on her website at: deborahlippmann.com.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS POLISH

My set has 3 collections: Treatment Nail Lacquer Quartet, Classic Nail Lacquer Quartet and Statement Nail Lacquer Quartet. It literally covers everything you could ever need and want to apply to your nails! The quality is unbelievable as well.

Treatment Nail Lacquer Quartet

The Treatment Nail Lacquer Quartet includes: Cuticle Remover, Cuticle Oil, Gel Lab Base Coat, Gel Lab Top Coat. Okay, now I’ve got your attention!

Classic Nail Lacquer Quartet

The Classic Nail Lacquer Quartet includes: Fashion, Sarah Smile, It’s Raining Men, and Single Ladies. I really can’t choose a favorite out of these. They are all so good and rich in color. The consistency is thick and smooth. These go on like a gel without needing any sort of lamp. They also tend to fill themselves in. When you think you have a little spot that isn’t completely full, it tends to fill as it dries. It’s pretty cool to watch! Its also easier to apply without making a mess of it! The Gel Lab Base and Top Coat also work wonders along with these polishes. I’m not typically a fan of base and top coats, but these just work. They all dry quickly and harden well also.

Statement Nail Lacquer Quartet

The Statement Nail Lacquer Quartet includes: Mermaid’s Dream, Groove Is In The Heart, I Know What Boys Like, and Stormy Weather. This set is more for when you really want to “make a statement!” Mermaid’s Dream is just that…it’s a dream! It’s a VERY fun polish! Stormy Weather has become one of my favorites, because it is very versatile and calm without being too dark. It is a great neutral grey. These also go on similar to a gel, except Mermaid’s Dream of course is a little different, because of the glitter in it.

Fashion & Sarah Smile, so classy!

So, I turned my hair into a bow.

SO, I TURNED MY HAIR INTO A BOW…

Ready to see how it turned out?

image

I’ve seen this hairstyle online a lot lately and have been wanting to try it. I got the urge to do it today and finally followed through. I watched a video, which I really liked that was very helpful and the girl is super cute! I’ll link it below. I don’t have extensions in my hair, so you can see how it isn’t as full as hers, but still looks good. I was surprised at how easy it is to do, however, I’ll need some practice with this. I had trouble hiding the bobby pins. I think it’ll get easier with practice. I also had trouble getting all the lumps out of the hair above the bow, but I used some bobby pins to pin it down and used my fingers to loosen some of the hair up. I think thick, glossy hair would work easier with this style. The only thing I did different was I used a hair band to tie it in a pony tail first and then used a seperate band to do the half pony / bob thing. I just thought that would keep it in place better. I like this a lot and got compliments on it at work. I think I’m going to try to do it with my hair curled. I think that will help disguise the bumps and make it even cuter. I may even do it and then crimp the hair that’s left down. She is right about not making the middle piece too thick. It works easier with a thinner piece. I’ve also seen this piece braided before. So cute!!!

Kind of messy, but not bad for the first try!

Swimsuits: Check!

Hey y’all! It’s Whitney with a little run-down of my swimsuit buying process lately. First of all, I have really been looking for a swimsuit with a little more coverage that doesn’t look like something that was dragged out of your grandmother’s closet. I tried on approximately 1 million (at least it felt like that many) before finding two winners. The first is this little black number from everyone’s favorite place ever, T.J. Maxx. It’s a one-piece with a little skirt. The strap is removable but I’m definitely going to wear it because I rarely do strapless anything. So yeah, I love this and it looks adorable on. So classy & feminine!

My next find was not a whole swimsuit but just the bottoms. I found this cute royal blue skirt bottom from the high-end establishment known as…Walmart! The color is great on my pale skin (porcelain, I like to say πŸ™‚ ) and it has little ties on the sides you adjust so it won’t be loose. I didn’t find a top I liked to go with it while I was shopping, but I knew I had some already that will work. Here I paired it with a solid pink top (confession: I literally almost never wear tops and bottoms of swimsuits that come together-I always mix & match!).

So there you have it, my two new swimsuits that I found this year. Conclusion: swimsuits with these little skirts are my new favorite thing. Totes adorbs!

Patterns and Linen

One of my favorite things in summer is loose linen pants. I paired some grey linens with a patterned tank and mix matched a pink headband and fun, green earrings to keep with the color scheme. I wore this with some pink sandals. Fun, flirty, girly. #foreveryoung πŸ™‚

Pants: TJ Maxx (Oh but of course πŸ˜‰ Brand: Max Studio, Top: Some random dept store find. Not sure where I got it, I’ve had it a long time, but I remember it was on sale for not much at all! Brand: B. Wear

Green and Blurple

Okay, I’m getting caught up on blogging some outfits. Here’s one I’ve really fallen in love with lately. It’s a lightweight green top -great for hot summer days btw- skinny jeans and some cute pointed flats. I love this green and the extra touch of blurple on my necklace and the backs of my shoes sets it off nicely. More outfits to come!
